Like many other schools, MTC Calamba has a second floor (well, actually, it’s at the 2nd floor =D ), and of course it has a stairway. I just want to remind my classmates and all who use this “invention” to be careful in taking advantage of the benefits of this device as we do when crossing the street or walking somewhere else. Accidents happen everywhere but we should be extra careful in “extra dangerous” places such as heights and roads. One of our classmates once again proved this to us when she missed one step of the stairs while getting down the building this Wednesday, February 28, 2007. Thankfully, she was not wounded, abraded, or hurt more than that of the two-stairstep fall and of the sudden twist of her left foot. The bottom line is we should always watch our steps and be careful wherever we are.

It was January 8, 2007 when MTC Calamba’s first batch of students entered the not-so-known-yet world of MT training and field. Each one, having own ideas about the course, was a little bit shocked at first, overwhelmed at second, and frustrated at third. J Eventually, we all realized that it is not as easy as we thought it is. However, we also became aware that the challenges we face makes us feel not just negatively—due to upsetting grades sometimes, or because of the frustrating process of deciphering—but also fulfilled because despite the fact that some doctors are as bad with dictating records as they do with writing prescriptions, we see the point why we should be fittingly called MEDICAL LANGUAGE SPECIALISTS later on. We mistakenly assumed that medical transcription is just another clerical job; only now that we proved it to be really a part of the modern medical team. Undergoing MT training is exciting, especially for those who want to take the best outside. Surely, the excitement of doing the realistic job in the training field will be doubled in the work field first, because of the unpredictability of the next challenges; second, because of the on-going acquisition of knowledge; and third, because of the compensation due to the work one is doing.
I hope that this pioneering batch which is composed of Letty, Sally, Mylene, Tse, Brian, myself (Willy), and Jet will make it to the end of this challenge and be able to face the next and more exciting ones.
